Okay, I know, I'm never going to use a shield, but I wanted to ask this because I'm curious. What's the rule on shields strapped across your back? Do they count as shields then? Or armor? Or anything at all?

There's a phrase; a shield is a shield is a shield.

Yeah, you can strap a shield on your back (or technically anywhere, for that matter) and it still counts as a shield.

When the BoW says that you can't build a shield that would give the advantage of unbreakable armor, it's more to discourage shields that wrap all the way around your body.

Are we allowed to pick up bodies and use them as shields? Because..well...Rhykha is pretty light....she could easily be used as a shield.

Hell yes, that'd be awesome.

Can we throw people too? Cuz seriously, I think Rhyka could get some pretty good distance and with a pair of swords, she might be able to take a few people out before being cut down in mid air.

And if she doesn't get hit in mid-air, we can throw her over enemy lines for a quick-flanking tactic and she can wreak havoc from behind while they're preoccupied with the enemy in front.

Rhyka, ever hear of a fastball special?

The only other rule I can think of (other than safety rules) says that a person can't use more than one shield. This is again to help keep people from building a shield that acts as unbreakable armor.

It seems that you're more thinking of building a shield with backpack straps which is more than acceptable.

Sir Kyrian has a shield that's made from a round sled which I've always admired. The curvature offers a little bit more protection, especially when back carried.

Yea, but I think it'd really mess with manueverability.

I dunno, this would be the only kind of shield I'd consider using, but still seems like it'd be a bit too cumbersome. It was just something I was curious about.

Bucklers are also good if you want arrow protection but don't want to sacrifice manuverability.

Back in the day when just about everyone fought florentine or polearm, bucklers were the definately the thing because they allow you complete manuverability while using your weapons.

(singing) "Teenage Mutant Ninja Kyrian! Teenage Mutant Ninja Kyrian!"

... It's all Sorcia's fault.

But seriously, just remember that if a person is wearing a shield on his back, the front is vulnerable (hint, hint) as well as the backs of the legs below the shield.

Regardless of how you wield the shield, you are only allowed one.

well, you can try to pick up a dead person on the field but you've got a few problems deary:

01) lots of people much bigger than you on the field... not too many smaller

02) should you encounter a smaller person, it will be feisty and respond with at ,"WTF?!" and a punch to the noggin

did people miss my post about only using one shield? I thought it was quite clear.

Have you ever used a buckler bohdi?

They don't allow complete manuverability. They actually severely limit your elbow and wrist motion because of their size and the way in which they attach to your arm, in some cases if you punt your strap sizing they can end up limiting the blood flow to your hand and forearm. Even most armor will cut down on your manuverability.

Meh..the dead aren't supposed to flail....And I have learned the ancient art of choke holds....so the dead shouldn't flail.

And I only mean to pick up Rhykha....maybe Lemur and use them as shields.

Yea, bucklers fuck up the motions of the weapon hand their on real bad. As for my armor I'm not restricted in anyway when fighting with it, and its a full left arm to. The disadvantage of course is that its armor, not a buckler. but when do I flourentine anyway? I just tend to not run as fast when I wear armor so I dont wear myself out. Not that I can't, I just choose not to. With a shield on my back I cant run nearly as fast because it hits the back of my legs and causes me to trip on my face, but tripping and throwing my weapon are my trademark moves. So in essence it makes me a better fighter... yea.
