 Kingdoms Scenario?
Would NB be interested in participating in some Eriador events this fall in order to play test the 'Kingdoms' scenario I wrote up last spring? Essentially it would be run like an Eriador event, but with the outcomes affecting control of counties between Story and Black Hawk. I was thinking probably a Saturday afternoon sometime before Oktoberfest and possibly another event after Fest before the weather gets too cold. What do you guys think? If you're unfamiliar with the scenario I'm talking about, you can check out the rules here: http://board.belegarth.com/viewtopic.ph ... t=kingdoms

 Re: Kingdoms Scenario?
Yeah, sounds good to me.
I'm not sure we'd be able to squeeze one in before Oktoberfest unless it was the week right before. This weekend is probably too soon, the weekend after that is Equinox, and that only leaves the weekend before 'Fest.

it does sound good, but I don't think I can do before fest. we could do some of this at the Halloween event.

 Re: Kingdoms Scenario?
Three way battle perhaps? Or mercenaries from the north? I'd like to see about bringing some of the Frozen North down for Halloween.

 Re: Kingdoms Scenario?
I had Frozen North in mind when I wrote the rules for mercenaries. Unless you've had some new realms pop up in your area, you will probably want to register Frozen North as an outpost (scroll down to the third draft on above link to see rules). That will make your fighters more valuable as mercenaries, but you would still need unit affiliations to be hired. Barring that, we could certainly use some non-partisan heralds.

 Re: Kingdoms Scenario?
Sounds cool I would be down with doing those. But as the others said. Some time after fest. We could most definatly do some runs of these at the Halloween event.

 Re: Kingdoms Scenario?
For the first battle a realm participates in, we'll need to come up with a fair way to estimate their projected attendance in order to calculate army size, influence radius, etc. I thought we could probably use Oktoberfest attendance as a proxy for the first round, until army sizes are more established. Does that sound acceptable to you guys, or would you rather try to estimate attendance for this particular event ahead of time?

 Re: Kingdoms Scenario?
Here is TA's roster of Fest attendees:
Xipher, Lili, Anglave, Darvax, Chubbs, Alric, Ahki, Daelenn, Calarn, Chibi,Inanna, Dimmers, Ashera, Aeschere, Kraylose, Galya, Leif, Dacrid, Atman, Pariah.
Assuming that we are only going to count fighters, that sets TA's starting point at 15 fighters. I assume we would be able to drum out more people than that for the actual event, but I think that's probably a fair number to figure army size and reach to start with. Just to be clear: if either realm is able to bring more people to this event than they did to Fest, the higher number will be used.

That sounds good. I think we had about the same number there, I will count later, for now....off to class.

 Re: Kingdoms Scenario?
To the best of my knowledge, here's NB's Fest attendance (fighters only):
Ahlschwede Bodmin Derian Dhak (Do we get Dhak?) Dirge Ertyk Ghyll Gorlock Jesus Kazi Kos Mr. Pockets (Fighting name?) Shi'nok Shiv Tay Troll
That puts us at 16. I may be forgetting one or two people.

Jarj... hmm.. Triv, Peanut? Triv at least has said many a time he considers himself to be a member of NB rather than Chamonix..

 Re: Kingdoms Scenario?
Oh good, at least one of us made it over 20. In order for us to actually have territory to fight over, one of us needed to be a class III realm and the breaking point is 20 participants.
So for this battle, NB will have a maximum army size of (20 - 5*#counties away from Black Hawk) = 10. Tir Asleen will have a maximum army size of (15 - 5*#counties away from Story) = 10.
Any fighters who participate in this Kingdoms event that did not attend Oktoberfest will be added to their realm's registered fighters and can participate, but the the attack ranges and maximum army size will not be increased until the next Kingdoms event.
NB has an attack range of 2, TA has an attack range of 1. Contested counted are Hardin, Marshal, and Jasper. Each realm can make a maximum of 4 attacks per calander month. TA will declare one of our attacks as Jasper county. It's up to NB to decide if they want to attack Hardin and/or Marshal county, but I'll assume you will attack both.
For each of the contested territories, we will run a set of battles. The default is best of nine standard field battles. If we want to do something different, some options might be to throw in some woods battles, regicide, field CTF, etc.
Does that all sound right to you guys?

 Re: Kingdoms Scenario?
It sounds like a ridiculous amount of fun! The only thing I have a question on I suppose is the maximum number of combatants due to range-- I understand and agree with the concept, but I could see groups exploiting the penalty and bringing only their very best fighters to guarantee a win. That in itself is good for their realm, but it excludes the less experienced fighters from having a hand in expanding the realm themselves. Perhaps some sort of rule set up for a maximum number of fights a given person can participate in out of the 9? assuming the realm has the spares, that is. I really am looking forward to this

 Re: Kingdoms Scenario?
Gorlock - high 40's with low chance of precip. Probably a bit on the chilly side, but still better weather than Fest. Dirge- It's possible that will be a problem, especially in the first few Kingdom events that a realm participates in. I think though, that once any given realm's list of registered fighters gets to a certain size that they would not be able to bring their maximum number of fighters allowed to events anyway. That was the concept I had when I designed it, but if it doesn't work out that way, then yes, I would consider changing the rules to avoid people getting "benched." Good observation. Here is the current game state: Solid colors indicate controlled territory; shaded colors indicate contested territory. As you can see, Chamonix falls within NB's territory and Solasmahr Tir falls within TA's territory. I highly recommend we try to get both these realms to register at least a minimum number of fighters (5) and bring them into the game. I'm looking forward to giving this a try next Saturday!
