All right, let's get rolling on this. I assumed we want to use Ingawanis again and talked to Rowan about what I need to do to get the site again. Let's decide on dates for this: Spring War is April 14-17th Beltaine is May 5-8th Western Wars is May 12-14th Geddon is June 8-12th Finals are May 2-6th and commencement is on the 7th. So what's open to us completely is May 19-22nd. The 12-14th is also open because I'm guessing not many are going to make the trip out to Western Wars. I assume we're not looking at Memorial Day. My vote is for the 19-22nd just to give Iowa another week to warm up a little more. What do you guys think? |

I think the 19-22 sounds great-- later so it's a bit warmer, but not too close to geddon. |

sounds fine to me. I don't think I am going to be able to go because I will be pushing to finish my thesis revisions before the wedding. Also the weekend of geddon is when the wedding is, so you should all remember that. |

I'd go for the 19-22 as well a little more time for warmth is always a plus. It was crazy cold last year. |

The 19th-22nd should be goods, if there are no objections, I feel that would should try and set the dates around here. The next question that needs to be raised, is what site should we use. I was believer that the site should be changed, after talking to people this weekend, I do not feel it would make that much of an impact on the numbers. So that leaves us with the Boyscout Camp unless, someone has any ideas of another campsite that might be better for us. Some of the things I am hoping to do, is to keep with the Chili Feast tradition. If the Chili Feast is a no go, one thing I thought would be good, is keep it simple with hot dogs and hamburgers.. No the black hockey stuff from Wal-Mart, but decent burgers and hot dogs. This will keep it simple, yet fun, and since its Mel, no one is coming there expecting super feast. This will make it easier to do Veggie meals for those who dont eat meat. When i post in the upcoming events forum after a few things are worked out i am going to ask all vegetarians that are coming to email us so we have an idea of how many are coming so we can plan accordingly. I would like to see if Ahki would be willing to run Night Tournaments, similar to the Mel 2 years ago. I feel that would spruce up night life and pull people back to a single fire. The other think I would like to do if there are no objections as well, and this is something that i talked with Killian and Troll about, is running this as a Lord Of War style rule set. This will allow us to pull more from the Foam Fighting around Iowa and the surrounding areas, which I think would really help boost our numbers. I have talked with Thorp an amptgaurder from CR who has informed me if we run this that more non belegarth players would be more interested and keen on coming out and joining us bringing Iowa Foam Fighters together as well as those from surrounding areas. There is now a facebook group called Mel X it should be an easier way for us to communicate and plan accordingly. I am planning on running this with the blessing of everyone for my squireship if there is any objections speak now or forever hold your peace! |

This sounds great, I think that trying to involve other foam fighting groups in Iowa would be a good way to boost numbers and also connect more with the Amtgarders in the surrounding area. Along with this, being open to other games might attract more out-of-state attendance. As far as feast goes, I agree. The chili is great, but if it isn't going to pan out, we can try for something equally simple and tasty. The Ingawannis is not the ideal site, but it has been adequate in the past. I think that if we were to change it, the new site would have to be worth changing it to. I think that if we were to move out to a campsite that is farther away, it may cause problems while running the event. It is still close enough to Cedar Falls that you can go back into town for anything you might need, and you can drive back and forth easily in order to make sure that the site is properly equipped with everything necessary to run a good event. Overall, I think you bring up some good ideas, and I look forward to helping you execute them. |
